Default D1 dash trim

Does anyone know if the dash surround trim (black, one piece goes around radio, heater control, etc) from D2 would fit a D1? Just the trim, minus the switches, clock, etc.

I have never heard it tried before, but I would bet it won't work because of the different deminsions of the 2 Disco's.

yea, i didn't think so, but my local yard didn't want to pull it for me to try without buying it. guess I'll have to order one. Sucks no yards in my area have any D1's anymore.

There is a DI at the U-Wrench it yard here.
Front end damage, I want to go out there and just rape it but have not been able to.

I thaught they looked pretty much the same, but with the hvac controls diffrent, clock on diff side, etc I didn't know if it'd work, and didn't want to spend $50 to find out

And I guss a good ques would have been would the switches, clock, ets all mount back up

Nope its the SAME!!!!!!!

@ Spike, The instrument cluster would fit, how ever the plugs would most likely be different as the D2 uses a lot of BMW plugs where as the D1 is all rover stuff.

The dash suround / trim that goes around the heater , clock etc is identical, I have D1 bits in mine, its all the same just laid out different and contains diff "modules" ie the ashtray, coin holder etc, clock, 6 switch pack, but you can use either.

The D1, D2 and "late" softdash RRC use all the same dash surround.

They are even the same part number for both models AWR1383PUY or LNF depending on colour. Heres the "proof"

As you can see, same part from MA (soft dash) to 2A....., Disco 1 to Disco 2 "pre-facelift".

From 3A on, SAME part just diff colour, IE black...

The only thing I dont like about my dash is the instruments, I really like the looks and layout of the DII .
I like the DII speedo, tach and the LCD odometer.
Not enough to buy a DII, but I do like them.
