saw a d1 on craigslist that listed heated seats(97). is this possible or was it just a lie to sell it? i always thought only d2s and up could get these

 

my '98 D1 has them ..........not a bad thing on a -20 below day !!!

 

Yup, lots of D1's had them. Mine has cloth, kinda rare in a 97.

 

So what would I have to do in order to get them on my 96?

 

Make sure you don't have elements in them. You can either get aftermarket elements or swap seats and add electrics. D2's with leather already have the stuff and all you have to do is change the fascia and add switches.

You can find universal kits on ebay (at least there used to be). My 98 has heated leather seats. They actually get really hot. I shut mine off when I smell burning a$$ (ok, I guess they don't get quite THAT hot).
