And Autozone also wants over $400 for a water pump that I got cheaper from Rover North.
Here's a link to used and yards. Tom's foreign Auto, Chuck & Eddies Auto Parts, and others warrant even their electrical parts. Toms gives 6 months and has been great to work with!

Guys, the poster is looking for a 98 Series I MAF sensor; these seem to be in the $400-500 range (e.g. Roverland). I'm looking too. The $250 units are for 99 (series II) on. I have found a supposed Series I unit in Utah for $250, but the photo doesn't look like mine. Haven't had a chance to call.
I was also told that these are no longer being made, and my dealer quoted $1800 also. Stealer doesn't begin to descirbe it!

The DI MAF is hard to kill, it happens, but not that often.
It will withstand cleaning well.

The DII, however, is a different animal, I know people clean them, but usually later they're buying a new one.

I was lucky several years ago buying a good used lucas for $50, for both my LRs, same 4.0 engine.

I cleaned them and have a spare that I haven't had to use for 5yrs. so far.

luck,greg
