Default D1 sometimes hard to start when warm, flooded?

Hey guys,

My 97 D1 with 213,000 miles is occasionally hard to start after being parked for 10-15 minutes. It starts fine if you immediately try to start it or if you wait 30+ minutes. It seems like it's flooded as once started, it belched some black smoke out of the exhaust when I got on it, which leads me to think there was excess fuel in there. Once it gets going, it runs fine. Doesn't stall out ever, only when starting after a brief shutdown. It did throw a 1193 code (bad O2 sensor heater), so I'm wondering if that could cause it to send enough fuel to flood it out where it won't start. What else could cause a flooding condition or these symptoms?

Fairly recent work includes:
- throttle body & induction cleaning
- new plugs & Magnacore wires
- new VSS
- new oil separator

It does have the original cats & O2 sensors. Thanks in advance for the ideas,

Bob

Mid-day bump to try and solicit some thoughts on my "hard-to-start after a brief shutdown" issue. Thanks guys,

Bob

Bet your 02's are causing part of this, they are normally warn out at 100,000 plus and loose their ability to be as responsive as they should be.
That is where I would start, with all 4 new ones.

A bad fuel temp sensor will also cause hard hot starts.

Crank shaft position sensor?

Fixed the hot re-start issues on both of mine, however, they did not act flooded.

after cool down, they ran like it never happened, leading me to believe electrical.
