Default D1 wiper arms are getting loose on D2

Ok folks, I give up. What am I doing wrong here? Got the D1 wiper arm kit from RoverParts. Installed w proper torque as specified in the manual. The driver side arm seems to get loose once in a while and I have to tighten the screw. there is obviously something I am not doing right... What is the trick? A special nut that does not unscrew itself? Here is the pic of the current setup.

If I recall correctly, my blades were doing the same thing after I switched over with a kit from Rover's North. I ended up reefing down on them fairly hard and, knock on wood, haven't had any issues since. I switched over at least five years ago and they're still holding strong.

Seems I remember something about it working better if you use the original nuts on the new arms rather than new replacement ones.

I tried the D1 arms but found I was spending more money on trying to find good blades that would cover the entire windshield than it cost just to get D2 blades.

Sure they cost more but they work better is what I've concluded.

So I'm back to D2 arms and proper blades and am happy with that.

I was going to say that I miss the heft of the DII blades. They seemed more robust to me. Haven't had any issues with the DI blades but still have the DII arms in the garage You never know...

Whoever you are, you are my hero of the day! Looked up the nuts for the wiper arms--sure they are different.

Will get em today. Thank you! --mc

loctite or - if not available - superglue does the trick. Never had any problem. And you get wipers at every gas station, walmart, costco ...

An issue I found with used D1 wiper arms... the arm's splines that mount to the wiper motor where stripped/worn away and wouldn't tighten enough to stay in position when in use.

That is my observation too. Going back to D2 setup. Have no issues paying for wipers and carrying a spare.

So I'm a little confused. Did you buy a new package for the wiper swap or are you using used D1 arms? If you still have the DII set-up, why not try the original nuts for the swap?

I built the swap up so big in my head I'm embarrassed to admit that it was so easy to do. I think it took me 10 minutes tops, once I got over the hurdle in my mind haha. Maybe you got a faulty kit.
