If your d2 blower goes out, you can use a 2002 4runner blower. I removed the fan blade and swapped it, direct fit for mine. Air blows way harder than before and no whining from the worn bearings.
Remove the cover, remove the three bolts that hold the blower in place.
Remove the band, remove the fan blade.
Put fan blade and band back on the new unit.
install the three bolts that hold it in place.
The new blower has crimp leads, the old wire harness has a plug. cut the plug closest to the blower if you want to keep the plug, then test the fan out.
Thanks for this info! My fan was sounding awful AFTER a cleaning out of leaves then dry lubed and cleaning of the cage. Picked one up for 37 bucks out the door. It has more push than the old Bosch. As you can see it's a sealed unit. Getting the old cage off is probably the worst part. As for the wiring I cut the connector off the Bosch and hooked up Red to Red and Blue to Black. That spins the fan in the same direction as the Bosch. If you hook up the wires opposite the fan spun the other way. The only modification is splicing the connector. Cage fits perfect. Just got back in from doing this swap- easy as can be. My blower motor was squeaking away and my wife would often ask if there was a mouse trapped in there, and given the quality of the “cabin air filter” there was a non-zero chance that was true! For $34 it was way worth swapping out the whole thing rather than try and clean up/rebuild the motor. Thanks again for posting and providing the part number!

Not that I could tell. My airflow was decent to begin with so that wasn’t the primary concern for me. Someone mentioned an increase above but I couldn’t tell. I even tried reversing the polarity just to check, but nope got it right the first time.
Given how easy it was to remove and install and my interest in 3D design and printing I’m entertaining the idea of designing my own fan utilizing airfoils in place of the curved vanes to see if that would help. But it probably won’t happen for a while.
