D2 engine vs LR3 - differences?
Since I've been learning about my '04 DII, I keep seeing tons of LR3's in my area. (Always happens when I get a "new" car - the newer models stick out.)
Anyway - has LR brought the engine into the 20th century with the LR3? Is it still aluminum? Still a pushrod engine? Still use sleeves in the cylinders? Curious.

The LR3 with the V6 is a Ford Explorer engine, a push rod V6.
The LR3 with the V8 is a Jaguar engine.
I do not know if the Jag engine is OHC or not but I am going to assume it is aluminum.
ALL aluminum engines have liners, they have to, if not they would wear out in under 50,000 miles.

It's interesting that there's a V6 for such a heavy truck. I read the LR3 has, in effect, two chassis and is much heavier than the D2. I can't imagine driving around that beast pushed by a 6.
Thanks for the concise explanation, Spike.
