2005 - 2008 LR3 HSE differences?
With a third child on the way I have to let the EVO go and get something larger. I was looking at a Cherokee SRT8, but the wife insists on three rows and I won't get a minivan. The LR3 appears to have the functionality the wife wants and the personality I demand. That being said, are there any major differences between 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 model years? They look very similar, but I didn't know if there is a year/model to stay away from. I've looked a bit on the forums and all I've seen thus far is that the 2005 had a lot of initial problems that were later fixed with recalls/software patches. They are practically giving away 2006's which I'm leaning towards because it avoids those initial problems and they can be had for mid to high $20k range. However, if 2007 offers a lot more - reliability, features, looks, etc. - I don't mind forking out a bit more for that.
Can someone explain or point me to a link that explains the year to year differences, if any?
Thanks,
new guy

V6 no longer available in 2008. Also 2008 offered the wood trim for the interior. Slightly different wheels throughout the 4 years of production, very unimportant minor changes like adding one touch auto window roll up/down to the front passenger window which is not available in 05 and 06 that I know of maybe 07 either but not sure, slightly different display options on the screen, touch and release on the signal light lever makes the lights flash 3 times and stop to signal lane change, in general small stuf like that. I would save the 20k and buy the 2006. I would make sure you buy the HSE with the HVY DTY package, luxury package, lighting package and cold wether package. Since you're buying used, all the options that sold for a premium when new hardly add to the price now so why not get them all
yes get the hse i did not you cant put in an aftermarket radio so the nav is nice also you have better seat adj. with the hse if i was going to do it over i would have bought the hse
also check luxory motors thay had the best deals last fall they list on autotrader alot

get a v8... and there really were no major noticible differences between them, however, they fixed a lot of the minor issues in 07, many water leaks resolved, better wiring setup, more up to date software in most of the computers, and most importantly, more time left in warranty
I wouldn't rule out the 05's either. You can find a great deal on a low mileage fully optioned HSE if you do your homework and haggle. Find one below 45K and buy the warranty from the LR dealer. I have a late production 05 with 58K and have had ZERO issues with it. No matter which year you choose you wont be sorry. Good Luck!
