Default D2 lift questions

I have started the install of my OME HD springs and shocks and it appears that I will be getting only about 1.5” of lift overall. This is not surprising as I was told to expect 1.5 to 2”. My thought is to get 1” spacers from Lucky8 to get a little over 2” of lift front and rear.

so my questions are:
1. Has anyone here run 285/75r16 on stock 16” with around a 2” lift? I did search but couldn’t find what I was looking for. I want to get as close to 33” as possible.
2. The OME shocks are not the extended 2” shocks with the “L” after the part number. I assume I would want the longer ones especially if I might run with sway bar disconnects. I got the OME package from AB.

I am already planning on extended brake lines and ABS lines. Would 2” extended brake line be enough with no sway bar?

Rear shock specs:
stock shocks = 14” compressed and 22 1/2” extended
OME #60025 = 14 1/2” compressed and 23” extended
OME #60025L = 15 1/4” compressed and 24 1/2” extended

If on the stock alloys you should be okay, might need some minor trimming. If running the steelies more trimming will be required as the offset kicks the tires out further. Also depends on tire brand/model for actual sizing. The 285 size can vary greatly between manufacturers. For the brake lines you should be good especially if you pull the lines from the little securing tabs so they hang free.

It all comes down to how much off-roading you plan on doing and what kind. Stock length shocks for your average mild-moderate trails is more than plenty of travel. These stock are quite capable especially with the sway bars disconnected and a CDL.

Also keep in mind that suspension lifts do not necessarily gain you clearance for larger tires.

This will be primarily a trail truck, but obviously highway driving to get it the trail. I will be replacing the front and rear bumpers with steel ones. Just trying to get my build done right the first time if possible. I spent some time last night searching the forum on reported tire sizes with lift size. Most of those threads however didn’t indicate if it was for off road use. I am trying to figure out how much articulation I can get with a 33” tire before it becomes wedged in the wheel well. I am guessing I will need extended bump stops to prevent that.

If primarily a trail truck I'd look into a 1" body lift and extended shocks. The body lift will make a bigger difference in terms of clearance. Limiting up travel is not something I'd be willing to do, the more you can set up your suspension to have a higher split up than down will help with stability and keeping the COG as low as possible while articulating.

Thanks for the advise. Found an interesting article on another message board that might be of use to folks for tire sizing and lifts.

Which alternative tyre sizes will fit my DSII? - www.slunnie.com

OME HD Springs, 1" spacers, FOX shocks all around. Love the way it drives. It was stiff at first but once I added a little weight it felt just right.

@Boostle awesome! How much lift did you end up with? You are talking about spring spacers not wheel spacers correct? What is the offset on those rims? I would be using the stock 16”.

Yep lift spacers front and back. I'm not sure how much lift I got but I was happy that the 33s don't rub at all.

Wheels are 16x8 00mm offset.

My truck is my daily driver that sees the beach every weekend and off road excursions seldomly. For that purpose, I love them.
