D2 Power-Steering Pump

As an update to my post, I seperated the original bearing from the output shaft of the power steering pump today. I had to heat the shaft up in the oven @ 250 degrees & consisted of multiple attempts at removing the bearing from the shaft. Tomorrow will be a combination of heating the output shaft at 250-deg again, while chilling the new bearing in the freezer in order to mate the interference fit. I have to find or buy a washer that will allow me to press on the bearing & also clear the output shaft on the inside diameter. It should be much easier installing the new bearing than it was to remove the old 1. Harbor Freight sells a bearing/race driver & separator kit that might work, as would a puller once you are able to gain some clearance between the orig' bearing & the pulley flange but I was able to get them seperated with a couple of screwdrivers, 4x4 block of wood, BFH, & the oven of course. I had too much going on to drop everything & drive across town @ rush hour so I made it work but I'm going to be more deliberate with pressing the new bearing after I get the shaft & flange polished up & the ideal tools for the task. I will order the re-seal kit this week and update the thread when I receive that stuff & wrap-up this little exercise.

I have also been rebuilding the idler pulleys & AC compressor output. There is a good, recent thread for the AC bearing, which I bought at AutoZone. The larger, driver side idler takes a 6304, the PS pump is the 6302 and the smaller 70mm passenger side idler is actually a 6203, so don't get it confused with the PS 6302 like I did. I was up to my neck in these bearings chasing down a noise in the drive-belt so this is just a side note to the PS Pump rebuild in the event someone else is chasing down a noise, maintaining or otherwise & being hands-on like me would rather fix what you have while burning some daylight. If I'm not mistaken, the alternator has an accessible output bearing as well; I believe I ran across a thread discussing that topic so I will edit this when confirmed, to also include the alternator output info too.
