Default D2 purchasing thoughts

The following is for people looking to purchase a D2.

My family and I live in Colorado. We love exploring the trails in this state, Moab, Death Valley, etc. I’ve owned Jeep Rubicons: TJ, LJ, and JKs. I have a JL Rubicon on order. My challenge is we will have four kids soon. My wife’s Suburban is not a great trail rig. I searched for a great family trail rig and the D2 was the answer.

Why a D2? It is a strong body on frame rig. I work on my own rigs and have rebuilt jeeps and 2 Hummer H1s. The rig can be easily lifted and fitted with lockers. I opted for 16 inch wheels so 265 75 16s are reasonable priced. parts are reasonably priced from numerous places like toddco, eBay, Atlantic British, bearmach, rover north, lucky 8, etc. If your engine grenades a remanufactured engine costs around $7100. Computer diagnostic systems are available. I floundered trying to setup my own T4 system. I have a Panasonic CF19 and VCI but cant get is to work on my 2003 model. I have a diagnostic system from Atlantic British and it works great.

I have found the D2 as capable as my Rubicon’s but with a bonus. The kids have more room! This makes taking the family a pleasurable experience. The kids rear entertainment setup I rigged works great.

Totally agree. Have CJ Jeeps, 68 Bronco, 72 F100, etc. and just bought my 2nd D2. They fit me like a glove and the performance is exactly what I need. Love 'em!
