Default D2 ran out of gas. Can't keep running. Please help

So my 1999 D2 ran out of fuel (v8 has engine) I put 5 gallons in it but it would keep shutting off after a few minutes running. Then I would have to put start fluid in it to get it to crank. After sitting for a while it will crank up no issue but only run about 10 minutes and shut off again. I replaced the fuel pump with a new one and still getting the same results. What else could be causing this issue? Please help?

Try another 5 gallons, at 5 gallons you are pretty much at the add fuel light.

If it still fails check the fuel pump relay under the hood

When it stops, does it stumble and sputter then die? Or does it just stop like you turned off the ignition?

Might want to check the fuel pressure using the test kit at Oreilly

You may have over heated the fuel pump and cause damage to the pump

I apologize as I read that now in original post. Could you have pulled some gunk that is now clogging injection. Is there any codes present or pending?
