At this point, it is irrelevant. Most issues that plagued oil pumps were on 2003 models. Those engines died quick, and there is a low chance that you'll get one of those. As for the tooling--why would you care? The last 04 is 14 years old. You want new stuff anyway--new engine and all that jazz. Transmissions are pretty strong, so you can keep the original. The point I am trying to make is that you're not buying a reliable daily driver. What you're getting is a project and the price you pay is inversely proportional to the amount of work you'll have to do.

If you count your time and the price of new parts, you'll looking at a vehicle that will end up costing $15K-$20K to be replaced. Those who say "nah" either drive real beaters or don't keep receipts or don't value their own time. Still, with almost-off-the-frame resto, that's a small price to pay for a nice vehicle.
