Damaged ABS line while changing rotors/pads
Spent the afternoon replacing the rotors and pads on my 04 Disco, my dumb *** damaged the rear passenger side ABS line/sensor during the process. Now I have lots of lights on my dashboard, hill descent, ABS, Brake and (TC) traction control.
My questions are:
1. Once I replace the sensor will the lights go away?
2. Is it safe to drive?

2. The brakes will function as a normal (non ABS) system. The lights are telling you that the system has detected a fault and has disabled the ABS/TRAC/HDC.
FYI the sensor is part of the hub and not a separate replaceable part.

If you just mangled a wire, strip, solder, shrink wrap and go on your merry way. No need to pay $140 for a new sensor unless you broke it close to the sensor or damaged the sensor as well.
To answer you questions as said above, the lights go away once the fault is fixed, its not like a SES light that need to be cleared for some codes. The brakes will still work but you wont have ABS, traction control, or hill descent control since they all use the sensor to function (hence why all those lights are on).

This has been debated a few times before. My amigos are on, (SVS and ABS sensors faults) but my ABS still works. Actually, its a little more touchy now. If I hit a pothole or bump while pressing on the brake, my ABS kicks in. If I take a sharp turn at low speeds and hit the brake (like turning into a parking space a little too fast), the ABS will kick in. Some people have reported the same thing. My hill descent does not work, however. Not sure about the traction control.
You can buy a good guaranteed used sensor, saving a lot of money.
Yes it is safe to drive and no the lights will not go away by them selves after the repair, you will need to pay the big bucks to have someone with the correct scanner to read and clear the codes.

Ughh, I was afraid of that. Oh well, it's my own damn fault.
The ABS Amigo is pretty cheap new (@$200), and can be found used for a lot less. I got mine for much less than the new price, and there's one on eBay as we speak... er, type that will probably go at a reasonable price.
The sensors are available separate both aftermarket and from the dealer. The issue is that sometimes it's the hub that is bad and replacing just the sensor won't fix the problem. In this case, just the sensor should fix the problem. (except for maybe the light being on... might require a code reader)
