Default Dash Face Removal

I am changing out the factory head unit and have been able to get it our of the dash. How do you get the dash face (includes AC controls, etc) off. The Rave manual talks about removing the facia, but instructs to begin by removing the steering wheel, disconnecting the air bag, etc. Is all this really needed to get the dash off?

It feels loose but I don't want to pull too hard and break anything.

You need this.

You do NOT need to take the dash apart.

I borrowed the tools from my local LR dealer and was able to get the head unit out. The previous owner had an aftermarket DVD installed, leaving a mess of wires behind the dash. I wanted to get the dash face off to clean it up and make room for the new head unit.

Not sure of the brand, but it has a monitor in each front headrest for the backseat. The DVD player looks like a single DIN head unit mounted under the center console in the back seat. The sound is all through a wireless headset system, this is where most of the wiring comes from in the dash.

Good system, messy installation.
