Deal or not? 2001 discovery overheated. And 4wd questions
It looks pretty clean in the pictures. Anyways guy says the engine overheated and it needs new heads. He says it has 111,000miles and full time 4wd. And he is asking 2000
Are all discovery iis all time 4wheel drive? Do they ever come with lockers? Should this one have lockers? How hard are lockers to install? What are common problems with discovery iis? I was looking at discovery is but saw this one. What are the major differences?

First, take a look here to answer some of your questions...https://landroverforums.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=21328
Second, I would NOT pay $2000 for a truck with 111K and that needs serious work, there will undoubtedly be more issues than just heads. If it's super clean, and you can do the work yourself to fix the heads and cooling system, offer him $1000 and at least get him down some. This truck sounds like it could be quite the project so if that's what you are looking for, and you have the $$$$, the time and the skills, then jump on it, just don't pay $2000 IMO.

These engines are aluminum. Very unlikely that an overheating event that warped the heads didn't also drop a sleeve, or two as well. As a general rule, overheated aluminum engines are cheaper to replace as opposed to rebuild. So the first thing I'd do is locate a used engine in your area and depending on the price you're able to find one for - THEN decide if it's even worth it to you to purchase this truck at any price. And this all assumes that YOU'd be doing all the work. If you plan on sending it to a shop, then I'd say RUN - FAST!
