Default Dexcool ok for D1?

Hi,
I've been using dexcool OAT orange coolant and after several months I seemed to notice
a thin layer of rust colored stuff in the insides of my expansion tank. I dont know if its normal or was it just a discoloration of the orange
coloring of the coolant? I didn't notice this before because my previous expansion tank is opaque black.
What should I do?
Thanks.

In the case of a D1, use the best yellow or green coolant, Dexcool is for D2's.
As for the rust film, do a good flush to try and cut the rust level down.

Dexcool is for D2 only.
I thought your 60,000 miles check is for both D1 and D2 when it comes to coolants. My bad.
Thanks Mike.

I am using dexcool in my D1 as well..

Ended up with it because of Mikes 60K service list....

Seems to be working fine

Why shouldn't you use it in a D1?

Yeah Ditto...

And what kind of problems would there be if the Green and Dex were Mixed...

Frankly I am a little pissed off right now.. I have this cherry Rover, and upon the advice of someone online, I put the Dexcool in my system, now I see this post contradicting that, and I google Dexcool and see all these horror stories of GM cars having problems with Dex and now not only am I out the money for the Dexcool, but Ive got to flush the system now..

The only upside is I figured this out 3 days after changing to the Dex,
Down side is now I dont trust any other recomendation made about the 60k service list.

Goes to show.. just because its posted, doesnt make it accurate

Seriously, they do.
I used to sell coolant, DexCool is junk. It CANNOT be mixed with any other coolant, it needs to be PH balance tested every 12 months, when it goes bad it becomes acidic and eats gaskets.
Noticed the head gasket problems with DII's? Maybe youve heard about this little not so common problem?
And the throttle body gaskets leaking on DII's.
My recommendation to anybody is to do a complete coolant flush and fill with a aluminum safe universal coolant, like Peak Global and then do a drain and fill every 2 years no matter the miles.
