The Fuyao is what I get also, fine if you don't drive your truck much but they chip and crack easily if you put highway miles on... I get about two years good use out of one of them +/- 10k miles per year. The OG Pilkington lasted 10 years.

Since getting the windshield, I upgraded to full coverage on the discos, so if they get cracked, the replacement is free anyway.

Oh also, FWIW, I removed the a-pillar trim, hood, and lower windshield cowling to make their install easier, also insuring no broken parts. Was quite an adventure driving the 15 minute trip there without a hood. Don't forget to remove the battery cover...like I did...

Brandon318 - I had thought about doing some of the disassembly/prep myself if I have Safelite do the replacement. Trouble is their facility is about an hour away here in North Idaho, so might have to opt for their "come to you" service and pay a little more to ensure nothing gets broken.

Curious about removing the battery cover? The previous owner of my Disco broke one of the tabs and the turn-**** barely catches at the front of the cover, but it's still there along with the jack and wheel chock. I guess I should call that part lucky.

Also, my windshield cowl is cracked on the ends near the hood hinges, missing the rubber end pieces, and also missing the "foam" which is a dust guard I believe? I'm hoping to be able to find a replacement that's complete, or in better shape at least, but will need to find a more affordable used option if I can.

Anyone have some ideas?

Every glass shop I've ever used broke the clips on the exterior A pillar trim. They ended up buying new A Pillars from the dealer too. If you can remove those without breaking them then I would do that at the least.

I assume you must be around Moscow to be an hour south of Safelite... I have family in that area too, Welcome to the forum!!

Dave03S - Actually up in Sandpoint, so the CDA Safelite location is the closest. Thanks for the advice on the A pillars!
