Go down to your local dealer and ask to watch a camel run, then you go and try and duplicate what they did on the trails. You couldn't even begin to do what they were put thru.

Camel trophy trucks were not lifted because they did not operate under any conditions that required greater amounts of clearance than the stock tires provided. With all possible due respect, the Camel trophy was not even remotely the "extreme" off road challenge it was touted as, even back then.
After watching the DVD on the Camel's I would think my Extreme and yours are very
different from 96 and back it was Extreme, 1997 and forward it was tamer.

One year the last two teams floated their Disco's to the finish line the team that won
Disco didn't sink,( no boats just Disco's) in 20 feet of water.

I don't thinkthat it gets much more "extreme" than the camel trophyfor a relatively stock vehicle andI imagine that the intent was to keep them pretty much stock. So, what event is more extreme that does notrequire heavily modified vehicles?

I always figured the point of running stock LR's for the CT was to show what these things can do without mods. I agree with the higher center of gravity too. Pictures from the CT always show the roof rack loaded to the hilt with gear.

Notmuch difference unless you change tires. You can still run 245/75 and look halfway normal with a 2" lift. The lift doesn't hurt that much. The 5K dishwasher is just 2" higher....

Haha the lift was the best choice I ever made down here at NC State. All the parking garages on campus fill up by 8 or 9 in the morning, but theres a row of spots for 'over clearance' vehicles. The lift on my Blazer puts me 'over clearance'[8D].

If you start paying attention, most garages and lots will have better parking for oversized trucks, which a lifted vehicle usually becomes!

Insurance rates go up
LR factory warrenty can be questioned
Wear & Tear on interior upholstery if you don't have running boards or a step ladder
And most noticable - Parking garages!

But it looks as it should with 2" lift and 31's...for sure!
