Guessing here but that might be a debri shield and nothing more. When you put the speedsleev on did you check it to cover the groove? Looks like you did. I know on mine I needed to measure that I did not seat it down too far or it would have missed the groove or seal line,

Amazingly the sleeve perfectly fit the exact groove. Really amazed by this thing.

And yeah, the brass thing is a debris shield, but its still needed to protect the crankshaft seal yeah?

I was contemplating filing off the lip of the speedy sleeve just enough to fit the debris shield. Thoughts?

Does the debris shield fit over the sleeve? If so the flange on the speedi sleeve is designed to be cut off.

Yep, it does fit over the sleeve, with clearance.

I didn’t realize the flange gets cut off, that’s solves everything. Any best way to do that?

Solved… snip the flange. Tear off. There’s a wee tear-off groove machined into the surface.

This product is amazing. Super rare that something that costs $40 so effectively saves $800.

Worked out so well I preventatively ordered another one for the eventuality I'll need one for the 2004. Who knows how long these will be around for.
