If you can't do it yourself or with your buddies, ALWAYS take your truck to someone who does Land Rovers ONLY every day of the week every day of the year and nothing else.

Not to some foreign car shop with a guy who has "worked on" Rovers before.

Edit add: I speak this from experience, I've been told three times that I need a new engine for 8 to 10k. I did get a factory replacement block at 38k when the oil pump failed so while I may not have actually needed a new engine I got one for free so I took it. :-D Otherwise they were just trying to make a boat payment.
X1 seen this all before. Self acclaimed 'experts' who are in fact 'do it all' grease monkeys claiming they know the intricacies of this or that car.

I didn't get the right vibes from their website even.

Jack of all trades and master of none.

4.6V8 range rover engine parts, pistons, bearing set

Gas flowed cylinder heads. I wish I had done this when it was redecked, because I had to do new springs after install.

+1 kenso, they should have known that being an 03-04 POS that the oil pump is always suspect and that they all need new pump gears. jnolan should have been forewarned about this before any work.

Unfortunately, all of the 03-04 D2 models came with poor quality engine blocks due to poor casting which causes low oil flow and kills the oil pump. Almost every 03-04 D2 has a broken oil pump, and WILL develop a cam tick. I personally believe they're all broken... I'll lay down bets w my partner before even removing the front cover and thus far always won..

There are several rebuilders that will not touch a block from 03-04...

Don't spend another dime on that motor. Keep the heads and what not, but get an older block.

I'd take the pan off and see what goodies are in there, but i'd grab an older motor, a t-chain, gears, oil pump, for the replacement motor...and a head set... and do it right.

This is also a good time to do the SAI delete.
