i cant figure out how to engage the diff lock in my 96 discoI. owners manual says from high or low position move transfer gearbox selector to the left, but mine wont move to the left, or to the right. i can move between high and low just fine, but i cant lock the t-case. it bothers me. am i doing something wrong?

 

Sounds like it hasn't been used in awhile which will cause the linkage to freeze uo. Don't force it or you will bend the lonkage.
You may be able to crawl under neith and spray the t/case linkage with penetrating oil and just start working the shift handle. if it is real bad you may have to go thru the consle and clean and stray the linkage from the top side.
