Diff lock and Gears
Hi all, we have got some heavy snow here at the mo so I had the diff lock on H today for the first time since i got the car a few months back. Thing is I can't find the position to get it back into the normal unlocked 4WD. You have a L at top and an H at bottom with an N centre. I seem to keep clicking it into neutral and so I put the main gears into 1st, reverse whatever and it just revs. What position do i need for normal driving????

if u have a disco 2 like my girlfriends you have a L at the top and a H at the bottom (or other way i cant remember), put it in nuetral while on a flat surface and pull back firmly on the transfer case shifter, when it feels like it is pulled back all the way keep pulling it back and click the gear shifter into reverse and it will usually come back more, continue pulling and put the shifter then into drive and it will usually go back into H. her hangs up sometimes like u are sayin, it may need serviced but im not sure.
If u have a disco 1 like myself the tranfer case shift pattern is like an H. the right side is unlocked with low and the top nuetral in middle and high at the bottom. the left side means the CDL is locked and again the top is locked low and the bottom is locked high and nuetral being in middle. To engage the lock you put it in nuetral and push to the left then up or down depending if its in high or low.

srry didnt finish accidentally pushed a button..... anyways,
to get it back out of lock you put the transmission in nuetral, then place the transfercase in nutral and pull to the right and up or down depending on if you select high or low. Mine gets hung up a bit sometimes putting it back in high and i do as i said before, pull back firmly then continue pulling back and click the tranny in reverse and then i will feel the transfer case lever come back further, i will continue pulling and click it in drive and by then it is usually safely in the unlocked high mode. hopefully this will and if u are confused i can try to explain better i may have been confusing. thanks good luck

Hey I got a 2000 DII and found that the transfer case is vicous coupling. Does anyone has any experience how the ABS + Low range work together with one or two tires in the air. Or is it a must to put on some ARB's so one can really freak the wife out while offroading
