Diff Lock question
#13
Thanks guys. I do have the diagram in the front but it is confusing because it shows an X through the drive line like it is disengaged when it is on the left side shifting pattern. No lights come on still when I shift it to the left though. It had never been used when I bought it (94,XXX) so it could be stuck with the diff unlocked, who knows.
Do you have your owners manuals, if so read them cover to cover.

Mike,
I do not have an owners manual for my 2004 Discovery and there is nothing about locking differentials in a 2000 manual because it is not offered, and I have read my owners manual for my 2000 and I clearly say in the first post it is my 04. Do not know what is difficult, just asking questions.

you will also find it easier to disengage the center diff lock if you move the lever out of diff lock (in neutral) then back up and turn the front wheels, the truck will have to roll about 5 to 15 feet before the light will go off.
What can happen is that if CDL has been engaged and your moving forward even though the lever has been moved to unlock, the coupler can stay connected as the drive line will be loaded , so follow the above advice

my truck is WAY easier to get out of diff lock when the truck is rolling in neutral and i push the accelerator. if sitting still (in neutral while accelerating) i have to yank.
going from unlocked to locked is no problem when sitting still.
either way, pushing the accelerator is key in my truck.
