Default Diff lock switch

Hi folks! 04 disco 2 with 235k miles. Just replaced the switch and the light stays on. Is this a switch that needs to be shimmed with washers? I bench tested it and the switch works. the factory switch had only one washer. I thought that it was simple replace type situation. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Part #IGM500011

Is the CDL engaged?
You might have to check the RAVE Manual for the switch install. I know it’s not supposed to be cranked down into the transfer box.

Hmm. I see. The switch I removed took a socket to remove. It was in pretty tight. I guess tomorrow, ill pull the console and do a trial and error adjustment. Fact is, the light is on, but the diff is not locked. Nor will it lock. Ive had no issue with its actual operation until I installed the switch, lol.

Solved. I had overtightened the switch. Stock washer was adequate. I removed the cable from the lock and moved the lock through its full range of motion-- the cable does not do so. I think working it helped with the movement within the case. I reinstalled the switch with less final torque and it works fine. I verified by lifting front wheel and rotating locked and unlocked--all was well. Thank you JUKE179r for your reply.
