Default diff locking

Hi, just want to know if anyone has made the switch to a diff locking transfer case? I haven't checked mine yet, I just bought a 1999 disco 2. I have been reading post and watching videos and I'm going to check if mine is. There's nothing on the shift lever nor is there a sticker mounted to the trim panel.

In a 99, your transfer case will have it unless it's been replaced before which is unlikely. Your shifter won't have the ability to switch it though. You can either replace the shifter or you can crawl under and lock it manually every time with a wrench. You can use a Disco 1 shifter, a shifter from an 04, or a reproduction shifter available from most of the major arts distributors. Pretty sure Lucky 8 has them. D1 shifter isn't a perfect fit, FYI.

Default Cdl

Had a new transfer case with the CDL installed recently. It makes a big difference and paves the way for Detroits. Very excited about the Detroits. Won't work without the CDL.

Check on Ebay for a shifter from an 04. Also try to get the ABS ecu, that way you'll be able to shut the engine off with the CDL locked and you won't get the 3 amigos when you start it back up. Prolly looking at $400 for a used 04 shifter.
