I reckon that's possible No Doubt, brilliant idea rather than tearing down the diff assy. You may need someone to rotate the wheels while it's on the axle stands but having said that the 4 pin is a solid lump cage and very different to the normal diff cage.

So, I wonder if NAS P38's all have this 4-pin diff? in front and rear? If so, I'd like to upgrade my D2 diff's without spending all the big $$ for lockers.. my trac-control works fine for me, but I just replaced my worn out rear 2-pin, and I'm not happy with its light-duty design; which is why it failed..

And I consider a diff rebuild to be very DIY. Meticulous maybe, but any garage mechanic can do it.

And I think the p38's only had the 4 pin if they had the 4.6? Or maybe they only had it in the rear diff? Either way, if it is a four pin, it's either wolf or a short nose p38 and neither are a direct swap for your stock long nose.
