Default Differentials and tranny

I just bought a 2000 Discovery with a 4.0 and an auto. I have 3 questions about the drive train.

1. Is there a special transmission fluid I should use when I do the filter/fluid change? What about the transfer case???

2. What gear lube should I use for the front/rear differentials? Do I need a friction modifier for the traction device in it.

3. What type of traction device is in the differential??? Posi with plates, cones? Gear type?
I just like to know these details and feel free to rant and or suggest alternative lubes.

1. Dexron III
2. 80w90 gear lube, normal or synthetic. Friction modifier isn't needed. Same for the transfer case. I used BG synthetic fluid when I did my differentials, and their synthetic Synchromesh fluid for the transfer case.
3. There isn't a traction device in the differentials unless they have been modified. They're open.

The BG products are good. I would use it or Mobil 1 or Royal Purple. You may want 75w/140 for the transfer case. Viewing previous posts from Disco Mike, he mentioned that it can quiet the gears, have better cling/coating on the gear, and have minimal effect on MPG. I would go full synthetic on the gear oil what ever brand you choose.
The old and new oil is stinky

Default Open???

I have to say that I am surprised that the diffs are open considering the off road performance of these vehicles. Does the traction control that I have help with that? I mean, you could in fact have only a 2 wheel drive vehicle without posi or lockers. Expand my mind, please.
