DII (Alpine) Radio Removal Help
Does anyone have any tips for removing this radio?
Shy of locating someone with the correct tools or, more likely, having to order them myself, I think I have tried just about everything to get the damn thing out.
I know that you have to slide something into the slots to release the clips, but my clips do not want to release, period.

I know about the removal tool, but they're not common and I'm impatient.
I was hoping that someone had made one. They're just thin peices of metal that you slide into the slots to release the clips. Someone on another forum said something about binder clips, but the idea I have for binder clips doesn't seem like it'd work.
I have an iPod interface I'd like to hook up and I do not have the datalink cable running under my seat so I need to hook it up at the back of the headunit.

Scratch that. I just found out that the removal tools being advertised on a certain website are actually for a Kenwood Head Unit.
I'll be calling around tomorrow. I'm sure the local Best Buy/Circuity City will pop it out for free.

Yeah, thats what I was going to recomend, just go to Best Buy, they will probally do the whole thing for half cheap. If you have to buy the tool for $30 and do the work yourself, how much to have them do it?
The removal tools you need are similar to the ones shown but specific to an Alpine radio. I had a set from another radio I installed and the removal was easy, the tools are inserted and push down 2 small tabs and the radio slides out.
I'm not sure how your interface wires in, if you need to attach to the harness you may need to refer to the wiring index on the RAVE CD.

So, I went by Circuit City and Best Buy today.
At Circuit City, the stero tech was more than gracious enough to lend a little time and effort, but with no luck. His remvoal tool was too short.
Off to Best Buy I go.
When I get there, I explain to the lady in the install bay what I'm looking for. She cannot understand the fact that Alpine made a head unit for Land Rover. We go back and forth about it for 5 minutes until finally I ask, "How do you remove the head units in Discoveries?"
"We don't work on Land Rovers."
My jaw hit the floor. Not because they don't work on Land Rovers, but because there was a brand new Range Rover sport sitting in the install bay!
She knew what I was looking at and she said "Oh, that. It's a Range Rover."
I just said "Ok." and left. Un-fncking-believable.
I guess I'm just going to order them off ebay.
