Hello, I have been having continued issues with my rover, it started having issues where it would stall while idling at traffic lights, and sometimes it would crank and not start, it would work fine after replacing my first CPS for about a month then it acted up again and I figured it was my cheap autozone CPS so i got a BOSCH one instead, started right up and worked fine for a few days then stopped again, so I figured it was the fuel pump, replaced with BOSCH as well. when I went to start it I didnt hear the fuel pump kick on, i left the carpet and "hatch" open so i could hear/feel it but I dont think its coming on (unless its really that quiet). ive had no codes during all of this only an emmisons code P0447 i think it was "purge valve canister" and i have replaced it. YES I HAVE TRIED THE INERTIA SWITCH! thats the first thing i tried everytime it died, might look into the pump relay later this week. Can the actual inertia switch go bad? anything helps! thank you!

 

Have you inspected for leaks in the purge valve system? Maybe a leak somewhere caused the code?

 

I was going to look into it as i wanted the truck up and running before i start dealing with little issues, I was going to buy new purge hosing, with the new valve but it was an extra $100. I replaced the fuel pump relay on my lunch break today still with no luck.

 

How about the idle air control valve? Have you made sure it is humming with the ignition on?

 

You can bypass the inertia switch to test....just jumper across the terminals.

 

You need to verify things, or we can be guessing until the cows come home. Check for spark, since you don't hear fuel pump running while cranking. If you don't have spark and no fuel pump running (and you've replaced crank sensor twice and the issue seems intermittent)...l'd check the connection on the crank sensor. The wires can get pushed out of the plug housing.

If you have spark, but no fuel pressure...then you need to verify wiring from fuel pump relay to pump...and see if you are getting voltage there. Do you have a test light? Have someone crank it over and see if you have voltage at pump connection.

These intermittent issues can be a bugger to track down sometimes, that is why certain conditions have to be verified.
