Default DII Manual Tranny???

Slipped sleeve syndrome's got me thinking about the Toddco 5.0LHO engine swap for my 04. Contacted them for some info but have not heard back.

Was wondering if the tranny will hold up. If I have to upgrade that as well, it's got to be a manual. Anyone know where I could source one that would be rated for the extra power.

To answer the obvious question, chalk it up to personal preference.

Be careful when dealing with Toddco. heard a few more complaints lately then I like and as such am not referring them.
As for the manual, tranny, why, do you wheel, have you ever had and compared the performance of the manual to a automatic?
Why do you think you have a sleeve issue what is your engine doing?

It can be done, but I hear it isn't a fun conversion. Lucky 8 converted a v8 D2 from an auto to a manual for their TerraFirma D2 build...

Put in a BMW engine.
May bolt up fine to the auto ZF box.
There is a V12 in a DII on yourtube and that is posted on this board in past messages.

I am sure Mike looked it at - and shook his head.

The manual transmission isn't even rated for the 4.6L, it was only rated for the 4.0L so you'd be getting a downgrade, not an upgrade.... it would still be lots of fun. There are some posts on either discoweb or pirate4x4 where it's been done.

France, check French web sites and e-bay, the 5-speed was a option in Europe and France would be a easy place as well as the UK and Germany to get one from.
Its not going to be a "fun" drive, it will be just like driving a truck and not a M3.

I think manual transmissions are fun.... even if it's like driving a truck instead of an M3. Heck, if you have a yellow disco, you could pretend you're driving an old school bus.

I agree 100%.
I could see myself turning on the hazards and stopping at every railroad crossing.

When I drive a manual truck I always dog the engine and shift into neutral everytime I coast or go down hill trying to max my MPG. lol

x2 on what Mike said about Toddco. I tried dealing with them a couple months ago but walked away. Their customer service is horrible now and they came across as a little shady. No matter how many times I asked very specific questions I just got really vague answers, both about products and applications. I'm not sure if they're under new management now or what.
