The red lead to starter is supposed to be a cable. Looks like it was replaced with 12 or 14 wire sometime in the past. If as it appears it will lead to a shorter starter life.

naaa there are two wires to the starter. The heavy 1/0 guage hot wire and then a small gauge wire with a black push on connector that goes to the solenoid.
Aware there's a cable and wire. See after taking another look the wire is brown/red for the solenoid.

yea I think they just took it out of the loom but I get what you are saying now. Sometimes it's so hard to try n read what a person is trying to convey even when it slaps me in the face

Yeah earlier when looking at photo all I saw was red and the control wire is brown on the WD. Went back and looked at diagram, then wire color codes and saw its B/R. When looking for B/R it no longer looked all red. One reason I prefer working on aircraft with all white wiring and wire numbers printed on each one.

yea I can understand that. Personally I don't mind color coded wire as long as it stays that color and is clean enough to differentiate.
So, after switching the spark plug wires between cylinder 1/2 I found the misfire problem, wire was severed from the connector..left it on cylinder 2 as I went to move back..Guess I have some new Kingsborne wires and a PITA job coming my way shortly..
Ok, repaired the wire instead of replacing it, which by all accounts is a massive PITA. I used WD40 and slid the boot back, cut the plug wire a little to expose middle wire, recrimped and set boot back. Misfire gone, codes gone.
