Default DII Replacement wipers $6/ea

After reading about guys switching to D1 wiper arms, I was reluctant because I find the pricey BMW-style on the Disco II nicer to look at and slightly easier to change. I just found and installed some valeo SWF blades #800214 which were a direct replacement and took less than a minute to install
Found mine "wholesale closeout" on rockauto for $5.91/ea as of 8/27/12. Plug in 2000 or later for a DII because their catalog is confused about the half model year.

Besides being expensive to buy D2 replacements, in the past, the D2 arm spring looses it's tension and no mater what blade you try to use, the results are not good which is why many of us have gone to the D1, 2 spring arm, with more downward force to the windshield.

These are blades, not refills. I like how I don't have to lose the factory driver's side "spoiler" to keep it from lifting at speed.

Is this considered expensive or are you speaking in general terms?

With the 2 spring set up on the D1 wiper arms, you don't have to have the spoiler.
With D1 arms you can install any of the new 3rd generation blades that give a lot better coverage.
Your choice though, but here in Denver a really stout blade is preferred over a inexpensive short lived one.

Another approach to the wiper blade dilemma on the Disco 2 is to use the NAPA Auto Parts blades. The initial cost is around $25 each (front). These seem to be the only ones that I have found that have replaceable blades (around $12 a pair). This was a good choice for me since I was able to just walk in to my local store and have them instantly. Not sure on how durable they are yet since I just got them.
