Default disable reverse beeper?

So either I have a special disco or its the only one that I have ever seen that has a reverse backup feature (which is entirely possible). As soon as I put the vehicle in reverse it starts beeping. Is this normal or is it only supposed to beep when getting close to something? If so what do I need to change? Thanks.

What year? If it's a beeping inside, it's a backup sensor that's gone haywire. If it's loud and outside the vehicle someone may have installed the backup beeper to warn kids in the neighborhood...etc,...If nothing else try and locate the beeper and just clip the wires.

....you sure you have a Disco and not a UPS truck right???

Def outside the vehicle. Sometimes I can hear it over the radio and sometimes not but it starts beeping as soon as its in reverse not even waiting for me to move. Reverse gear but in place beeps. Annoying!

We must know the year of the truck before we can help you.

Look for a little black module that is stuck by a reverse light, or pull the bulbs for your reverse light and replace the one that looks funny. 2 most common ways to get it to beep in reverse.

if those suggestions dont work have someone set the ebrake and put it in reverse, then listen out back for the beeping sound to pinpoint its location.

I don't want to hijack this, but where are the sensors located? When I put mine in reverse I get one long beep that stops after about 10 seconds and from what I read it means it isn't working correctly. It never beeps when I get close to something in reverse either. 03 Disco HSE Thanks for the help. Jere
