Disco 2 Assembled in Malaysia
I'm based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I don't know much about Discos. Recently considered getting this one '03 D2 TD5 Automatic. Learned that it's assembled in Malaysia.
The spec is a bit different. No sunroof, coil springs all around, 7 seater, leather and suede seat.It has the CDL sticker but only the 3 way low range gear shift. I think it might just be a sticker and no CDL under. Haven't checked.
The car has been pretty much a town car from the look of it. It has the 3 amigos, of course.
Anyone knows more about foreign assembled discos? And any tips before I jump in with the purchase?

Apa khabar!
Malaysia has a relatively high tariff rate for imported automobiles (one way to protect the local car manufacturers such as Proton in your country). Many importer-manufacturers utilize CKD (complete knock down) or SKD (semi knock down) processes to bring imported vehicles into the market. The vehicles are disassembled and imported as "parts" which have relatively lower import tariffs. They are re-assembled using low cost labor at the destination country. This is probably why your tag shows "assembled in Malaysia".
P/S. Try and get in touch with someone from the RoverNuts Malaysia group. I believe they also have a Facebook page.
