Default CDL Stuck!

Hello,

Could anyone help me maybe?
I bought an '03 Disco about 2 years ago, and few weeks ago I tried using CDL shifter for the first time but I was only able to shift up (forward). It did not want to go towards the driver side. It just seemed stuck on the passanger side. Any sugestions?
Would lubrication help maybe or do I need to replace complete shifter unit?

Thanks.

Because you have a '03 all you have is 4-hi and 4-lo, no CDL.
So you can NOT shift from side to side ONLY front to back.

if your shift **** has a diagram for the CDL maybe somebody changed out the transfer case front housing and installed the linkage. Also, if it has a diagram look under your rover and see if there's a linkage going to the front of the transfer case.

BTW you sure it's not an '04?

There was a tech bulletin some time ago that Land Rover placed the wrong decal inside of some of the 03 rovers showing the CDL shift pattern. There was a recall to switch out the decal.

WOW!!!
It is an '03 for sure and yes....I do have the CDL diagram in the center counsole. It shows 4 different settings.
You guys think that I should check for the cable if it is going to the front of the front transfer case?
Does anyone have any pics on what I should be seeing under the truck??

BTW Thanks for the quick response guys...really appriciate it!!!

Take a picture of the shifter from the interior. You can tell right away. Don't bother crawling under.

Notice the position of the shifter when the CDL is not engaged. It is in the lower right corner. Your 03 has the shifter position normally in the middle rear of the boot.

Also look on the diagram on the **** of the shifter itself. Does it have DIFF LOCK written on the left side? If not, the sticker is probably wrong and you do not have a cdl.

Because the truck is sold all over the world and they all come off the same assembly line some got the wrong t-case sticker.
They left out the CDL "guts" on the NAS (North American Specification) models, you can buy the guts and add them yourself or buy a '04 t-case with the CDL and just do a swap.

So a '03 sold in South Africa has the CDL but one sold in the US does not.
