I have a '98 D1. So you're saying that some of the parts in it are D2? I always thought, as previously pointed out, the two were totally incompatible despite similar appearances.

The only parts I know for sure that are DI and DII compatible are the heater core, waterpump, tensioner pulley, and wiper blades. If the DI is a bosch that is.

98 D II Koch..... in the states we did not receive them until 99 so the ones that are here were imported. As 007 said there are a few parts but not many, the coil packs can be made to work too hence the term FRANKIN ROVER a combination of the two trucks.

Nope, it's a 1998 50th anniversary edition D1. Has the lower taillights, different interior, everything.

No.
There's no such thing as a 1998 D2.

I was really just curious about the whole "Franken Rover" thing, as if the 1998/1999 D1 Rovers were some kind of D1/D2 hybrid.

Good god dude let me get out my crayon and napkin and draw you a picture..............the Series II Discovery debuted in autumn 1998 and in the US in 1999. Land Rover promoted that the Discovery Series II had been modified with 720 'differences'. The interior and exterior was re-worked to be less utilitarian, but it was still similar to the Series I. Every body panel was new except the rear door outer skin. The rear body was extended to improve load space but at the expense of added rear overhang, which adversely impacted off-road ability. Changes to the diesel engined models saw the 2495 cc Td5 (in-line direct-injected 5 cylinder) engine introduced, in line with the updated Defender models.

There were 1998 D II's just like I said earlier before you made me make you look like a frickin dork.

After you finish disco mikes major service you should really do some reading. You have alot to learn OBVIOUSLY. You need to learn learn learn learn learn before you attempt to correct me Koch.
