Default Disco 2 SE7 - new battery & no power

My new 2002 Disco II SE 7 with 160K miles sits in my driveway and won't start. What a way to begin a relationship! ACE was leaking, ordered and received a new one, and battery died in the process. Installed a new battery, tried to start the Disco and all I get is a blinking B. No security red light, Key fob doesn't open/close doors....nothing! I'm soliciting your wisdom. BTW, haven't installed the ACE...not touching anything yet.

have you checked for a ground? you might want to run a pair of jumper cables from the battery ground to a ground on the block or truck and see if that changes anything?

First, I'm not a mechanic but I look at stuff and try to figure it out. I attached one cable to the battery ground and a bolt on the block...same results. I attached a cable to the negative battery post and another to a bolt on the engine block...same results: the flashing B.
I really lost: how could changing a battery put my car in this state?
