Default DII torque converter year 2000

Hi there,

When idle my car has a strange vibration. It's not like a continual vibration, more like a unbalance every half second or so. I bought new sparks to exchange them, but i checked two sparks and they seem allright. I will exchange them anyway. I am doubting my torque converter, is he possible to make some unbalance.

I tried the stall test descbrided here, and my car does 2250 rpm when throttle fully depressed. That should be intetween the range of OK of 2200-2400rpm.

When i drive the car i hear allso a strange noise, like the engine makens more rpm then he drives. Difficult to explain. In simple words, the engine souds far more louder then the output. Thats why i allso doubted the converter. But according to the stall test it should be OK?

I hope to hear from you.

On my P38 Range Rover, I had some loose torque convertor bolts that ob longed and created a vibration. That could be the issue. It may be something else too but if you look at the inspection plate you should be able to see if it is the bolts or not.

Also, I have heard about an exhaust leak causing vibrations as well but I have not had that experience my self.

Good Luck.

Do you have a service engine light on, if so what are the fault code numbers.
Also check your motor mounts, especially the drivers side one for cracks.

I dont have a service light on.
Just came back. Altough i have a high clearance from the ground its a tough job woking underneath the car. Especialy when the engine is running and the exhaust is hot. But i dont have a bridge available so this is it. I unscrewed the fill plug of the AT and i was suprised(not to say burned) with a massive flow of oil coming out!
In the write it is mentioned that the car must be warm and the engine running when checking the level. Did i miss maybe the D has to be engaged, for max fill of the converter? As i was much suprised i spilled for sure some 300-400 ml fluid. Partialy over my hand, happily i was wearing gloves, unhapily they were thin so i felt the warm oil good! The color is dark brown, so i suggest its final time to change the fluid. But do i drive now with an overfilled AT? It was allready getting dark so i couldnt check the converter bolts, and offcourse because of the spill underneath it!

At the end i cleaned the IAC valve inside a little with some brake cleaner. I dont think there is much of a difference.
