Disco 2 w/o roof extension and yakima rocketbox

I have used roof installed Yakima and Thule attachments for my cars for a numbers of years. In general, I do not see any issues with the set-up.
The only issue which you may face is the RocketBox is a fairly long unit and may still stick out a little towards the front, especially when you have to install the fore-aft mounting points evenly. I suggest checking the Yakima website to download the installation manual for your particular Rockbetbox. It may tell you something about the minimum/maximum fore-aft spacing requirements. Plus, you will lose the beautiful view from an open sunroof.
I have read from previous posts that the rack attachments have a tendency to increase fuel consumption by 1 to 2 mpg. I decided to go with a small cargo box trailer set up on my Disco. I bought a Coleman Caboose trailer off Craiglist for $350.... similar to the pic below (except mine is in black). I am in the process of installing cross-bars on the top lid of the Caboose to hold bicycles. The cool thing about this trailer is that I can store easily it in my backyard or garage. It can be propped up vertically to stand up and save space.
All it needs is the simple Flat 4-prong trailer wiring. I already have the tow kit. I bought the trailer wiring add-on lit from Atlantic British for less than $100. It is a simple plug-in from an existing wiring adapter inside the RH taillight housing.
Good luck!
