As long as the frame isn't rusty, that looks to be a great deal, especially if you can bargain with them. If you're mechanically inclined, head gaskets aren't too bad on these. The others have given you great pre-purchase advice.

Not that it matters but this OP first posted this in the LR3 section thinking this Disco was an LR3.

Considering I paid $5100 at auction for mine in lesser condition and it's not as nice, heh, listen to what the others have to say. I gotta say, I've learned quite a bit between these, my ZJ, and my MJ, and this particular truck is a BLAST to own!

Funny story: my driver side low beam went out on me when I left work one night. No biggie, I usually see at least one headlight out on the way home where I live, but sure enough the sheriffs lit me up. I pulled over, I told him I was acutely aware and I would be taking care of it. We spent all of two minutes talking about it, and he really didn't even give me what I would call a verbal warning since I was able to convince him I knew what I was doing. But we spent about 20 minutes, and another deputy arrive during this time, and both of them just wanted to talk about the truck! They'd never seen a Disco, I guess, and I must be the only cat on the block with one of these. They were curious, asking about what they're like, wondering if they were difficult to work on. Since I wasn't in any hurry I entertained their many questions and was on my way.

These things turn heads and I feel like a million bucks just cruisin' through TrailBlazer town in it.

100% I would own another Land Rover again, specifically a Disco 1 or 2. Without question.

The body will never rust. Look underneath the back and along the frame. Check that very good
take it for a drive

These are gas pigs. Keep that in mind. Gas prices are rising and will keep rising

I mean you shouldn't be driving a land rover if you're worried about gas, it's no secret that a big v8 will get bad gas mileage. That being said I get 18mpg on the highway

Given the gas mileage of a Land Cruiser, G-Wagon or even the Ineos Grenadier, I would not consider the D2 as a gas pig. It also depends how you use it. We use it for family vacation, weekend trips, while we sleep in the car or tent. We can go deep into the NF or BLM land and camp for free. We bring all food and don't pay for dining. If I get a more fuel efficient and off-road capable vehicle like the new Land Cruiser, a Diesel Sprinter or an electric, I am offset by $50k-$100k. For that money I can buy gas for 150,000-300,000 miles for my D2.
