disco 2000 stalled out at stop, wont start
disco II 2000 stalled out at stop light, will not start again, it cranks, instrument panel lights up, never catches.....had to tow it.....
now, i pulled a spark plug, no fuel smell, i cant tell if i have a fuel pump problem (never replaced), or spark problem....coils etc or crank sensor(never replaced)
any insight greatly appreciated.....

It turns over, but never starts. Crank means different things to different people.
OK. Remove a plug or plug wire with usable metal part to hold near metal part of engine block - when turning over, any spark? No spark usually = crank position sensor in many cases, may have a code stored, but not always.
If you have spark, then fuel may be the issue; reset inertia switch under hood, have some one try to start while you listen at the tank area to hear fuel pump run. There is a pressure test valve, but it is tucked uner the intake manifold and hard to get to.
Pump only runs for a few seconds if engine does not start.

replaced cps no start still
Replaced.crankshaft position sensor....got bad part asp....then hardest part working around exhaust...unclipping and reclipping was hard...had to remove bracket with bolt but but done ........tried to start same thing cranks but does not catch....funny thing before. Starting I started the car....so I was sure it was cps.
..but now again no start...can't hear fuel pump in filler...wondering how to access pump....disco 2000 series 2.....

no start issue resolved listen up anyone doing crank pos sensor job!
okay.....it was all my fault, so anyone doing this crank sensor position sensor replacement, read this before you start and read again....
the sequence of the CPS is bolt then spacer then CPS then engine....
again bolt + spacer+ CPS + engine.......it seems that after i took it apart, it seemed inutitive to put the spacers in first.....do not b/c it wont start.....
again bolt + spacer+ CPS + engine block....
also, a side note, when i removed my CPS sensor, i noticed a lot of oil on it, and it driped from above from back of engine.....so that could have caused sensor failure....anyway, i just mention that...
but after that, it started right up, and good thing i didnt start the fuel pump job, but i know i will have to eventually.....
