Default Disco 2003 Blown Motor

My motor blew on the highway and the mechanics said that the labor alone would cost nearly $2K. I have no idea what a new or used motor would cost...any help with this would be appreciated

Thanks,

René

Nobody could possibly help you without details.

Do you realize how vague and completely lacking in detail your post is?

What blew on your motor? Head gasket? Cam shaft?

Please, if you would like help be specific with what happened and what exactly the "mechanics" are doing for that money.

Hello Dave,

thank you for your response. I didn't include details, as the mechanics said the motor needed to be completely replaced. The piston with connection rod blew. I threw a rod and it blew out of the bottom of the motor. I will get more details today.

Thank you for your time

The mechanics said it was going to take 19 hours to remove, disconnect from the ac and reconnect a working motor. That is why the labor is nearly $2k according to them

Well thats about right plus you need to add the price of a used, rebuilt or new engine. the total can range from 5 to 10K to get your truck back on the road, You can save the money of the mechanic if you are comfortable coin this work yourself and a friend or 2. However you still need a new motor.

Depending on where you're at- I have a nice known-good 4.6 w/ only 82k miles I'd consider selling, but my plan was to find a nice truck to put it in. That having been said, I may be interested in buying your truck as-is if you're not too far from FL...

PM me, we can talk about your options and go from there.
