Default disco battery

I own a '02 Disco Series II. It's been a very dependable vehicle however lately the battery dies when I turn off the motor but leave the electrical power on for even the shortest time. Could this be just an old battery that needs replacement or could it be something worse and more expensive? If I do need a new battery any suggestions on what to buy? Thanks

have the battery checked at a local parts store they should let you know if the battery is bad or the alternator

If it is the original battery then yes, you need a new one.

Buy the most expensive battery you can afford, Rovers and their ECU's draw and require lots of amps. Consider a top line Interstate , a Yellow top or their equal.

Thanks to all who responded to my question. I bought an Insterstate battery and the guy at the repair shop did some work on the alternator. Also got a new serpentine belt. Total parts and labor was about $300.
