Default Disco experience is 90% about gaskets and 10% about thermostats

I pose this question to Disco nation. Opposing opinions happily welcomed.

My good sir, this is simply not true. It’s also 15% faulty electrical ground points.

From what I learned just last night after all these years is apparently LRF = not real, and the only really proven stuff = real life

I'd say with new OEM off the showroom floor = 50% BMW/LR issues as business partners, 50% by 03-04 LR just wanted to see the light at the end of the tunnel for the LR3 to roll out, and so they didn't really care to do any worthwhile improvements.

Now used 94-04 D1/D2 = 80% previous owner maintenance, 10% to be expected wear n tear, 10% crappy replacement parts from URO/AllMakes4x4/China.

Overall the D1/D2/D90/D110 platform can trace it's roots all the way back to the original RRC so a lot of stuff was well ironed out over the years. It was just when BMW took over they squeezed every last drop out of the LR V8 without really thinking about reliability, they just wanted it to have better emissions, and of coarse better looks in 03-04. The guts of any 78-04 LR are extremely tough and durable, and any luxury SUV with technology not found in anything else for years = will have problems. I could care less if the heated seat quits working, vs a Jeep which could have death wobble right off the factory floor or a weld on an axle break on it's first off road trip. LR learned a lot from all the Camel Trophy events, and they did a lot of testing and R&D which other companies honestly just copied vs doing their own research.
