Default Disco I and alternators

I just had my 7th alternator fail in the last year on my 1997 Discovery I. All for them have been remanufactured with some done in Mexico and the last one (which just failed after 2 months) from Bosh in Germany. Where can I purchase a dependable alternator like the 1st one that came factory from Land Rover.

My first choice has always been to take it to a local alternator/starter shop and have it built right, second would be http://www.roverconnection.com/ and third choice would be Auto Zone where you get a lifetime warranty.
First though get your battery checked to make sure it is not killing the alternator.

I have been super lucky with mine, 130k on it. Recently started thinking the rebuild when it fails. Does anyone make a rebuild kit for these?

You have had 7? Ouch...

If your frying alternators at this rate I would think of another problem with the truck. You could be having an intermitten grounding issue which in turn can de-charge your battery and also overload the alternator. The only problem I had with an alternator was the shaft going bad.
Does your truck have any other electrical issues?
