Default disco I code 40

the owner before me replaced the distributor and put in STI wires and crappy plugs, I am getting code 40 which is misfire in left bank, would new better plugs stop that? I am planning on putting bosch +4 in tomorrow, hope that helps. also, will the code go away when the misfire stops or do I have to reset it somehow?
thanks

Most likely the wires, 8mm magnecors from apex performance are a good choice. Most misfires codes go away after a certain number of drive cycles with no misfires. You have an ODBI vehicle so you can clear them easy enough anyhow.

You will need to clear the code yourself.
I have heard that the +4's do not work well on the 3.9 but I cannot confirm nor deny that.
STI wires are supposed to be good, others have had good luck but it all depends on how long they have been on there I guess.

I would suggest that before you start replacing parts, you pull all the plugs on that side and see which one looks bad, then decide how to deal with it.
STI wire are pretty good wire, what brand of plugs are you currently using?

it had cheapo autolite plugs. Two nights ago I put in 4+ all around and you could really tell the difference, a lot more power and smoother ride. how do you reset the code? do you just unhook the battery wait a while then hook it back up?

I plan on doing a throttle clean tomorrow, hopefully that will help with the dying in the mornings.

Because you have a OBD I system yes unhooking the battery for 10 min or so may reset the CEL.
Otherwise there is a way to reset it but I do not know what that is.
