Cool Disco I Rear Power Window?

I recently bought a 96' disco I...

The two rear windows didn't work, and he (last owner) didn't want to give me details on the issue. I just removed one of the rear door panel and realize he fitted some clips on the door to keep the window from going down...

From outside the regulator seems to be fine, so it could be the motor right? I mean if the motor failed, would it still move which would explain why he had to put clips?

It could be an electrical fault, but then he wouldn't have needed to clip the window in position since electrical failure would keep it blocked...

Thanks in advance for input!!

He may have just made this problem 1000x's worse for you.

It is common for the window lift ECU's circuit board to get small cracks around the solder joints and then the windows will not work.
Remove the circuit board, resolder the joints, replace circuit board, windows work.
30 min DIY if you know how to solder a circuit board.
www.atlanticbritish.com sells a window lift ECU repair kit for $15 or so, it even comes with instructions.
So depending on what the other guy did to the windows will determine what you need to do to fix the windows.

Did he just push the glass all the way up and then fasten it in place?
Or did he totally jack up everything?
Thats what you will need to figure out.

Default Haaaaaaaaaaa

Heyyyy I think you're really onto something here... When I dissembled the window switches panel there was (un-explainable) crazy glue all over the panel so what you said about the window ECU makes a loooot of sense... Like you said hopefully it's not beyond repair point haha!

Thanks a lot for the very useful input!!

Same problem on my '94. I tested all the switches, motor, etc, finally just rolled it mannually and unpluged the switches... The ECU's are where?

The ECU for the windows is behind the glove box.
