I've been reading and a few sites say that the Discovery II's have a locking tranfercase up you have to turn a large bolt by hand? Is this true? If so don't they make an upgrade kit to make that electric or Hydraulic?

If your truck is a 99, 2000 or early 2001, then you can either buy the linkage from a D1, 2004 or buy a solenoid conversion kit. I have the solenoid kit in mine, works really well. The last place I saw them advertised was at Safari Gard, but I haven't seem them on their site lately, might want to call them and see.

 

I have a 2001. How can I tellif it is the type that can be locked? What numbers am I looking for or else?

 

Usually the first 3 months of production, so if your truck was built somewhere up thru September you may have it. Send me your e-mail address and I send you a picture of what to look for on your t/case.

No, but you might call Safari Gard, they used to handle the solenoid package, they may be able to point you in the right direction.
