Default Disco II ABS Modulator Reduction Valve

I am looking at a DII with new brakes but an ABS light issue. According to the owner, it has an ABS Modulator Reduction Valve issue. What is that? Does anyone know? IS that an abs failure requiring replacement of the abs system? thanks Phil

If you want my honest advice,

IGNORE anything the owner says as its pretty obvious he has no real idea. if your interested in the car, then get the codes read from the ABS system ( dealer or Land Rover specialist only), better still get the owner to do it and get a print out of the codes.

Only then can you make a judgement on what is wrong and what it will cost to fix and is it worth buying.

Could be any number of things.

Dirty / loose ABS sensor / s
Shuttle valve switch failure (sounds like it to me) either $50 or $1000 fix. or "used parts"
Worn Hub / Bearing $300+ fix.
Broken ABS looms.
Worn brakes / discs can also cause the ABS light to iluminate.

If you want to take a gamble on it, then fine, but imo knock ATLEAST and additonal $500 of the asking price.

Ditto,
Start fresh and find a mechanic that knows the system, see what he says.
Some thing can answer, do your brakes squeak, if you throw a panic stop at 30 MPH on a loose surface, can you feel the ABS pulsate thru the brake pedal?
